29 Dogs Adopted

Foster Program

Interested In Fostering?

As our rescue doesn't have a "center", we heavily rely on fosters to operate and find the best homes for our dogs. As a foster, you will be required to take the dog to and from vet appointments, train basic obedience, help with the adoption selection process, meet protentional adoptees and provide the utmost care for the dogs. Your job is hugely important to us!

At this stage, we are not actively looking for fosters outside of Christchurch, however, if an emergency did arise you may be contacted to foster.

Volunteers are also required all through New Zealand. We may need people to collect a dog and transport it to a facility or a suitable area to collect for transport to Christchurch. These volunteers are required to have their own transport and a driver's license. Please email us regarding your interest in volunteering for CBCH.

Foster FAQ's

Can I still foster a dog if my property isn't big or not fully fenced?

Depends on the dog and what they require, apply anyway!

Do you foster outside of Christchurch?

Not at this stage. However we do require volunteers all over New Zealand, but in some emergency cases we may require a dog to be fostered out of Christchurch

Do I have to pay for anything?

No! All vet visits, food, etc are covered by donations to our rescue. But if you can spare a few dollars, please donate!

Do you allow fosters with kids, other dogs, cats, or any other animals?

Yes, but this entirely depends on the dog and its requirements.

I rent my home, can I still foster?

Yes! But you must have the Landlord Form filled in and submitted with your application

I work full time, can I still foster?

We need our fosters to be as available as possible for vet visits, and adoptee visits, and to spend time rehabilitating and working with our dogs. Therefore we require fosters to be part-time workers, self-employed or working part-time at home. Although in emergencies we will consider putting a dog with a full-time worker.
